The shortest way to the Velebit coast
Many guests are surprised by how close it is. You land in Zadar in the early afternoon, and before the light turns gold you are standing on the terrace, with the Adriatic in front of you and the Velebit behind.
From most of Western and Central Europe the flight to Zadar takes between one and two and a half hours. Then the drive: north towards Maslenica, across the bridge over the sea channel, and along the coast to Starigrad Paklenica. No city traffic, no long transfers. About half an hour, and the journey is over.
Low-cost flights to Zadar
Ryanair has flown to Zadar since 2007 and today carries most of its passengers, with seasonal routes from a long list of European cities, including airports in the United Kingdom and Germany. When the flights run
Most low-cost routes to Zadar follow the airlines' summer timetable, from the end of March to the end of October. The busiest months are June to September, with the most frequent connections.
Spring and autumn are the quiet secret. In April, May, September and October flights are still running, the beaches are calm and Paklenica National Park is at its finest for hiking and climbing. The private pools at both villas are heated from 1 March to 1 November, so the season at Calma begins before the summer and lasts beyond it.
Low-cost schedules for the coming summer are usually released in autumn and winter. Booking flights early gives you the widest choice of days, and makes it easier to match your flights with the villa's arrival and departure.
If there is no direct flight from your city
Zadar is not the only gateway. Split Airport is about two hours south by car, and Zagreb Airport about two and a half hours inland, both with year-round connections. The motorway to Starigrad Paklenica is fast and quiet, and the last stretch follows the sea.
Guests from Austria, Slovenia and northern Italy often choose to drive the whole way, especially for a longer stay or with a dog. Both villas have private parking.
From the airport to the villa
Private transfer. A driver can meet you at arrivals and take you directly to the villa. We arrange it on request when you book.
Rental car. Most international rental companies have desks at Zadar Airport. A car gives you freedom for Paklenica, Zadar, Nin and the islands. Private parking is waiting at the villa.
Taxi. Taxis wait directly opposite the arrivals hall, at any hour.
Arriving well
Check-in is from 16:00 and check-out is by 10:00. A midday landing leaves time for lunch in Zadar's old town, a walk by the Sea Organ, then a slow drive to the villa. An evening landing means a late swim: the pool is heated and lit, and the jacuzzi is warm under the night sky.
On the way home, a morning flight is easy, since the airport is only half an hour away. Later flights leave room for one last coffee on the terrace or a short walk into the Velika Paklenica canyon.
